Paul Mirfin is a contemporary oil painter with a unique background that significantly influences his art. Before dedicating himself to painting, he and his band 'The Paul Mirfin Band' have toured California, Europe and won many awards for their music. Paul has performed in South Africa also whilst working in the railway industry, a career that allowed him to travel extensively across the UK. This experience provided him with a deep appreciation for the diverse landscapes and scenery found along the railways, from rolling countryside to bustling industrial areas.
His time on the railways became a source of inspiration, shaping the way he views and captures the world in his paintings. Many of his works reflect the perspectives he encountered during his railway journeys, portraying scenes with a sense of movement, tranquility, and a connection to the land. His paintings often blend elements of realism with impressionistic touches, creating atmospheric landscapes that invite viewers to experience the same sense of discovery and wonder he felt while traveling by train.
After becoming part-time in the railway industry, Mirfin pursued his passion for art full-time, studying fine art and mastering oil painting techniques. His distinctive style, characterized by expressive brushwork and vibrant use of color, has earned him recognition across the UK and beyond as well as being commissioned to paint a landscape for King Charles III by his old school friend.
Through his paintings, Paul Mirfin continues to share his love for the British landscape, capturing its beauty and spirit with a touch of nostalgia influenced by his railway background.
